 January 2024 Exam Schedule Information for Students and Families

Please find the January 2024 calendar for the examination period below.  The exam period is determined by the YRDSB/approved by the Ministry of Education; students are expected to be present for all exams.

Please review the documents attached to this communication to help your family and child prepare for the upcoming exam period. Attached to this communication you will find:

• A detailed schedule for exams by day and room number

• Examination guidelines for students during the exam period/February 1st Semester Feedback Day Modified Exam Schedule.

Here is our January exam schedule below for students in Grades 9, 10, 11, 12:

• Students who do not have an exam listed in the schedule should speak directly to their teachers about the assessments they will complete during the Final Exam period.

• Students in the DD and ASD Community Classes will attend full days, following their regular schedule during the exam period. 

Exam Policies and Procedures:

• Please review the following exam policies and procedures to support the exam period

1. Missed Examinations Policy

All students are required to write their final examinations during the scheduled date, time and place indicated on the examination schedule and as announced by their subject teacher. A student who misses an examination will receive a mark of “0” as the final mark for the exam.

2. Exceptional Circumstances

Only under certain circumstances will alternative arrangements be considered for exams:

• If a medical certificate from a medical doctor; 

• Funeral;

• Court Appearance; 

• Family Emergency in such instances.

In exceptional circumstances, alternative arrangements will be made to have the exam completed on a different date from the original schedule.

3. IEP Accommodations and Supports

Students who require IEP accommodations will be supported by the Special Education Department and their SERT. These students will be contacted ahead of time to support their IEP accommodations during the exam period
